From our St. Petersburg dock it is a short cruise north through the Intracoastal Waterway to Clearwater's turquoise water. You pass waterfront estates and mangrove islands on the way, then Clearwater Pass, which opens onto the Gulf of Mexico.

Your captain's Tip: The Clearwater Pass Window
Clearwater Pass is one of the narrower inlets on the west coast and the current rips through it on outgoing tide. We time departures to leave the marina an hour before slack low water so we transit the pass on a fair current. That means quieter water, no standing waves at the seawall, and an easier ride for anyone sitting on the bow. Caladesi Island is a 25-minute run north and ranks consistently in the country's top ten beach lists; Honeymoon Island is another five minutes past that. Both have day-use anchorages with sandy bottom in 6-8 feet of water. For sunset, hold offshore of Sand Key and you'll get the unobstructed Gulf horizon without bridge or pier in the frame.
A Sample 4-Hour Clearwater Itinerary
- 11:00 a.m. Boarding at Maximo Marina, St. Petersburg. Safety briefing, drinks set out, sunscreen on.
- 11:30 a.m. Cruise north along the Intracoastal toward Clearwater Pass, with Belleair Beach, Indian Shores, and Madeira Beach to starboard.
- 12:30 p.m. Transit Clearwater Pass on fair current, anchor off Caladesi Island for swim, paddle, or beach landing.
- 1:30 p.m. Optional run north to Honeymoon Island state park, or back through the pass to Sand Key for sunset positioning.
- 2:30 p.m. Return south to Maximo Marina. Total run: ~45 nautical miles. All fuel included on weekend packages.

How much does a yacht charter in Clearwater cost?
Our 52ft Marquis Flybridge is all-inclusive with captain, crew, and fuel: $500 per hour on weekdays and $600 per hour on weekends, with a 4-hour minimum. A 4-hour weekend charter for the Clearwater coast is $2,400.
Do you depart from Clearwater Beach?
We depart from our home marina in St. Petersburg, about 40 minutes from Clearwater Beach with free parking. That means you skip the Memorial Causeway beach traffic and the crowded municipal marina, and you reach open Gulf water faster.
Can we visit Caladesi Island on a charter?
Yes. Caladesi Island State Park is one of the last untouched barrier islands in Florida and is only reachable by boat, which makes it a favorite stop on Clearwater-area charters along with Sand Key and Clearwater Pass.
How many people can join a Clearwater yacht charter?
