Shell Key Preserve is a pristine, undeveloped barrier island just south of St. Pete Beach — and one of the most beautiful natural destinations on Florida's Gulf Coast. Protected as part of the Pinellas County Aquatic Preserve, this island has no roads, no buildings, and no crowds. Shell Key is famous for its world-class shelling, with conch shells, sand dollars, and sea glass scattered along miles of untouched shoreline. The surrounding shallow sandbars are perfect for wading, swimming, and simply soaking in the turquoise water. Dolphin encounters are common here — pods regularly cruise through the channels around the island. During nesting season, you may even spot sea turtles along the shore. Shell Key is approximately 20 minutes from our dock, and can easily be combined with Pass-a-Grille or Egmont Key for an unforgettable full-day island-hopping charter.
